On July 17th, the 4th UDE 2023 International Semiconductor Display Expo was grandly opened in Shenzhen. This conference focused on new display technologies such as Mini/Micro LED, OLED, laser display, and micro display, as well as semiconductor materials, equipment and accessories. It provided a one-stop platform to understand the latest developments in the new display industry.
Mini/Micro LED

In the field of Mini/Micro LED display, TCL, Hisense, Lightray, Samsung, BOE, Tianma, Huikong, Xiaomi, Haier, Jingtai, Wog, Hongli, Ruifeng, Leiyu, Zhongqiang, etc. presented their key exhibits, taking the audience on a journey through the future of Mini/Micro LED display.
Among them, TCL made a grand appearance at this exhibition with an area of over 1,000 square meters. They showcased Mini LED TV products such as TCL X11G, which is known as the "ceiling of picture quality in 2023", and TCL Q10H, which is a new benchmark in Mini LED picture quality. TCL Q10H uses TCL HuaZhou's high-end A++ butterfly star曜 screen, which can enhance the contrast ratio by 5 times. The XDR 3000nits brightness of the screen brings the screen's brightness and contrast to an astonishing level, with rich details in the dark areas presented.
The Samsung booth showcased a 110-inch Micro LED product with a groundbreaking release. It utilizes inorganic self-illuminating technology, achieving an extremely high contrast ratio. The independently controllable pixels can represent different shades of the same color, restoring the microscopic details of colors and presenting the true form. With the assistance of a nearly bezel-less ultra-sensory full-screen and powerful performance, Samsung Micro LED offers users an outstanding visual experience with a stunning visual effect.
Liyade presented the MG series at this exhibition: MG009 and MG012. These products are positioned as mainstream small-pixel display products. They adopt a minimalist design concept and are equipped with Micro LED display technology. By integrating Liyade's years of design experience in small-pixel products into the core performance of MG, they help customers enjoy high-quality small-pixel display effects at a lower price.
BOE continues to develop MLED borderless displays, presenting a variety of Mini/Micro LED display solutions and products, including multiple new models such as BOE's 34" curved COG MLED BLU and BOE's 31.5" 4K zone COG MLED BLU. The 31.5" 4K zone COG MLED BLU product features 4K zone MLED backlighting, achieving an ultra-high brightness of 2500 nit, DCI & Adobe dual 100% color gamut, and a million-level contrast ratio. The display presents a natural and rich picture with vivid and full colors. It is equipped with 0OD + glass backplane technology, with the entire machine thickness reduced to 9.5mm, allowing on-site viewers to experience the charm of "borderless display".
Tianma, which has been deeply engaged in the field of small-sized display for over 30 years, showcased at this exhibition a 9.38" Micro LED display with adjustable transmittance. The exquisite and precise display effect was fully demonstrated on this small screen, contributing to the current booming trend of vehicle display.
The leading-edge display and panel company Huiko showcased its COB all-in-one machine at this event. This machine features a ultra-thin design and an integrated body. It offers an outstanding display effect with an extremely wide viewing angle and high contrast ratio, attracting numerous domestic and overseas visitors to stop and admire it.
Haier presented its high-end brand Casadti's mural TV M160 to the audience, offering them an ultimate aesthetic experience of "exceeding the painting and achieving a seamless artistic realm". With its unique zero-glue design, the entire machine is only 4.9 centimeters thick, resembling a mural and perfectly matching various home aesthetic styles. This further enhances the home's aesthetic appeal and opens up more possibilities for the overall aesthetic of the living room.
Laser display

In the realm of laser display technology, Hisense, Vidda, XGIMI, Dangbei, NUT, Zhongke Aurora, Ningxi, United Optoelectronics, and ViewSonic crafted a dreamlike cinematic journey for the audience through the artistry of light and shadow.
Hisense has created an expansive exhibition space spanning over 1,000 square metres, recreating environments such as esports arenas, home living settings, and outdoor landscapes within the display area. As the world's first laser television to achieve IMAX Enhanced certification, the Hisense L8K laser TV stood out prominently within the exhibition hall. It offered an exceptional immersive audio-visual solution for users seeking premium viewing experiences, delivering cinema-grade picture quality, sound performance, and content connectivity to fulfil the ultimate cinematic aspirations of film enthusiasts. Additionally, Hisense's youth-oriented brand Vidda showcased numerous latest products. Among them, the flagship Vidda C1Pro tri-colour laser projector boasts commercial-grade brightness, achieving 2350 ANSI/CVIA lumens and a 1700:1 contrast ratio. Combined with 4K resolution, it unveils a new dimension of light and shadow.
Leading laser projector brand XGIMI also presents the XGIMI Horizon Pro 4K. Upholding the product philosophy of "Seeing is believing, experience reigns supreme", it employs a DLP system to deliver 2200 ANSI lumens, featuring a 0.47" matrix and a maximum resolution of 60K at 4 Hz. The lamp guarantees over 25,000 hours of operation, with a maximum projection size of 300 inches.
On the occasion of Dangbei's fifth anniversary in the smart projector sector, the company unveiled its latest product, the Dangbei Projector F6, at this exhibition. Equipped with Huawei HiSilicon's recently launched V811 chip, it supports 4K UHD resolution, 1.07 billion colours, HDR 10, and AI-based picture colour tuning.
True laser, true world. This time, Zhongke Aurora presents its 4K true laser home cinema series, utilising red, green and blue laser light sources for pure colours and a simplified optical path. True laser technology redefines our perception of the colour spectrum.
OLEDand innovative applications
In the realm of OLED displays and innovative applications, exhibitors including TCL Huaxing, Qihong Technology, Rongjie, and Zhenxiang showcased cutting-edge technological applications and creative products such as printed OLEDs, transparent OLEDs, and 3D light fields.
TCL Huaxing unveiled the world's first 65-inch 8K printed OLED display, representing the largest size, highest resolution and refresh rate achieved to date in OLED products developed using inkjet printing technology. Employing IGZO TFT backplane technology and a 120Hz drive system, it achieves 33 million ultra-high pixels through ultra-precision inkjet printing. New ink formulations expand the viewing angle to 135 degrees and elevate DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage to over 99%, propelling OLED display technology to unprecedented new heights.
As LG's designated strategic partner, Qihong Technology has specialised in OLED display terminals for several years. This exhibition showcases multiple transparent OLED display screens, including a 55-inch upright touchscreen model and a 55-inch desktop landscape model. Featuring rich colours, pure blacks and wide viewing angles, these displays offer a fresh choice for commercial applications, office environments and domestic settings.
For years, Zhenxiang Technology has specialised in light field holographic technology. The Zhenxiang light field holographic display delivers a fantastical visual experience for live audiences. Its exceptionally wide viewing angle allows stereoscopic effects to be observed from within 100 degrees, supporting simultaneous viewing by multiple individuals from varied angles. Each viewer perceives objects from distinct perspectives, faithfully reproducing the natural physical occlusion relationships of the real world. This creates an immersive viewing experience for spectators.
Silicon-based microdisplay

Step into the Micro-Display Zone, where Hisense, LeEco, Nade, Luxshare Precision, Rayu, CoreVision, Guangna Siwei, Yunguang Technology, and Jingneng transport you to a boundlessly captivating virtual world.
TCL showcased the Thunderbird Air Plus smart glasses, which have garnered enthusiastic support from younger audiences. Featuring a BirdBath optical module and equipped with Sony's flagship Micro OLED display, they deliver an impressive 49° field of view. This provides a display equivalent to 146 inches at a 4-metre viewing distance and 215 inches at 6 metres.
Hisense's Vidda brand not only pushes laser technology to its limits but also makes deep inroads into micro-display technology. The standalone VR headset unveiled this time caters to multiple scenarios including corporate training, esports entertainment and education, delivering a comprehensive virtual reality experience for consumers.
Luxshare Precision showcased multiple standalone and head-mounted display VR devices, winning the favour of numerous visitors with their outstanding product design and performance. Many attendees paused to experience the technology firsthand.
Xinshiyuan's silicon-based LCoS microdisplay chip series finds extensive application across emerging fields including AR/VR/MR spectacles, automotive HUDs, head-mounted displays, optical communications, optical computing, and 3D printing. The Tianmu I-040-B, Tianmu I-060-B, and Tianmu I-020-L products showcased at this exhibition empower categories such as lightweight AR spectacles, micro-projection, AR HUDs, and industrial-grade AR headsets. Semiconductor Materials, Equipment and Supporting Fields

In the semiconductor materials, equipment and supporting sectors, leading upstream and midstream enterprises including MediaTek, HDMI, Han's Laser, Nova Star, Haimuxing, Nanocrystal, Haitou, Mengtuo, Huayuan Zhixin, Daoda, Zhanri, Megacore, Desha, and Kangmeite have added lustre to this exhibition.
MediaTek showcased its Dimensity 9200+ series chips at the event, utilising TSMC's 4nm process and innovative chip packaging design. These chips deliver outstanding performance, energy efficiency and gaming experiences, featuring mobile hardware-accelerated ray tracing, motion blur reduction, Smart Frame Stabilisation 2.0 and adaptive gaming optimisation technologies. Collectively, these innovations empower flagship mobile gaming experiences.
HDMI continues to develop world-class digital video, audio and data interface specifications. The HDMI® 2.1a specification is the latest iteration of the HDMI® standard, supporting a range of higher video resolutions and refresh rates, including 8K60 and 4K120, as well as resolutions up to 10K. It also supports dynamic HDR formats, with bandwidth capacity increased to 48Gbps HDMI.
Han's Laser, a pioneering domestic laser equipment brand, brought cutting-edge technology such as glass laser cutting machines to the event. Utilising proprietary control software, these machines feature multi-panel cutting, automatic zoom adjustment, and expansion compensation capabilities to meet the processing demands of complex structural products. Furthermore, they incorporate high-precision motion systems, scanning mirrors, and vision positioning systems to ensure manufacturing accuracy.
Leading video display control provider Nova Star unveiled its "MLED Display Control Integrated Solution", delivering comprehensive hardware and software support for all-scenario displays.
